About the Album
The band’s twelfth album was released in October 2014 under the record label Soyuz Music. To promote the album, director Mikhail Veksel created two music videos for the songs Maslo and Eat My Heart. The first video is a full concert performance, while the second blends narrative elements with live concert footage. Some fans were surprised by the experimental sound of certain tracks, including Eat My Heart. However, songs like Fabergé Eggs, performed in a style more traditional for Russian rock music, continue to delight audiences and bring the band success.
Review
"Eat My Heart" is almost completely free of the absurdity and irony that have accompanied Nogu Svelo! since the very start of their career. There isn’t a trace of the tone found in tracks like Lilliputian Love or Haru Mamburu—and that’s a good thing. It shows that the band continues to grow rather than rely on once-successful formulas. Looking back at their previous album, one could say the band gave a full retrospective of their hits spanning over twenty years, and then set sail in a new direction with a subtle nod toward a more commercial sound.
