About the Album
The non-numbered album "Revealing Photos" by "Nogu Svelo!" was released by the "Quadrodisk" label in 2004 to celebrate the band’s 15th anniversary. It features the best songs performed by the band over the past 15 years, some of which were included in non-traditional versions (live and demo) for variety. In addition, the album contains an audio track written for the animated film "Klara and Dora: Crazy Grannies", as well as photos that had never been published before.
Review
What remains fascinating about the "Nogu Svelo!" compilation is how, throughout the band’s history, biting satire, parody, and absurdity have consistently coexisted with completely mainstream tracks like I’m "Go East!" and "I’m Not the Last Hero", songs perfectly suitable even for pop radio stations. However, such tracks are in the minority here; most of the compilation features songs where accessible melodies are offset by lyrical madness. This madness reaches its peak in "Haru Mamburu", performed in an invented language, and the socially satirical "Moscow Romance". Even in the so-called “Russian-language” tracks, Maxim’s sharp wit consistently overpowers any desire to break into the pop mainstream.
